Apple Inc.’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) latest watchOS 10.1 release has finally brought the much-anticipated Double Tap feature to Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2. Now, it’s time to break down what this feature entails and how it can enhance users’ experience.

The new watchOS 10.1 update has arrived alongside the new iPhone iOS 17.1 update, bringing with it some new features. The update can be downloaded now, and includes Double Tap, which can conduct multiple tasks by tapping the thumb and forefinger together.

Following the release of watchOS 10.1 to the public on Wednesday, Apple has updated a support webpage to confirm that the update fixes the bug affecting Weather app complications. More specifically, complications may not show any data when they’re set to the user’s current location instead of a specific city.

watchOS 10.1 also now supports NameDrop for exchanging contact information merely by bringing your Apple Watch near someone else’s iPhone (running iOS 17) or Apple Watch (running watchOS 10.1)—the left two screenshots below demonstrate this action.
